The
primary purpose of breast reduction surgery is to reduce the weight of
unusually large breasts and improve the symptoms resulting from that weight.
Additional benefits may be the improved fit of clothing, new physical
activities not previously engaged in, weight loss, and improved self image.
Removal of
excess tissue is done from the lower part of the breast and/or around
the nipple, areas covered by most types of clothing, swimsuits, etc.
Breast reduction
surgery may be done in a surgical center. After surgery there is soreness
but usually not a lot of other pain. Most non-strenuous activities can
be resumed in ten days to two weeks.
