Collagen is used to fill wrinkles and some scars. The correction is usually very good. This material lasts for varying lengths of time, usually about six months. Often, supplemental collagen is added at that time. Collagen often is used to fill wrinkles of the lips into which lipstick tends to migrate.

The quality of the skin of the face and neck, as well as finer wrinkles can be improved with superficial chemical peels supplemented by a regimen of skin care at home. There is no recovery time after these peels and make up can be reapplied immediately.
